ἴδε is a Greek word used in the New Testament to emphasize something or to get the attention of the hearer. "Listen!" "Look!" "Behold!" are some ways it is frequently translated. Some similar Greek words are, ἰδού and ἄγε.
We use it here, not to suggest everyone needs to learn the original languages, but to highlight, in something of a colorful way, that the authority of any sermon is directly tied to its faithfulness to the original text.
